When they told me for the first time to visit the mysteries of Trapani had only eight years old, and with the innocence of a child I wondered what they had so much of a mystery to be called mysteries. A tradition that is carried on for four hundred years, still attracts thousands of faithful and devoted. But what is beyond the tradition and faith in this religious event? There are men, women and children each with their own stories to tell, more or less interesting, we read it on their faces, the need for something to guide them, join them, that makes them feel united. The mysteries are the second largest religious event of longer duration in Italy, a massive demonstration that runs the entire city of Trapani, in the days of Easter.

 

Quando mi dissero per la prima volta di visitare i misteri di Trapani avevo soltanto otto anni, e con l'ingenuità di un bambino mi chiesi cosa avessero di tanto misterioso per chiamarsi misteri. Una tradizione che viene portata avanti da quattrocento anni, ancora oggi richiama migliaia di fedeli e devoti. Ma cosa c'è oltre alla tradizione e alla fede in questa manifestazione religiosa? Ci sono uomini, donne e bambini ognuno di essi con le proprie storie da raccontare, più o meno interessanti, lo si legge sui loro volti, il bisogno di qualcosa che li guidi, che li unisca, che li faccia sentire uniti. I misteri sono il secondo evento religioso di durata maggiore in Italia, una manifestazione imponente che percorre l'intera città di Trapani, durante i giorni della pasqua.
