Thailand is the largest country in the Indochinese peninsula, and it is thanks to this vastness that stands out among all the countries of south-east Asian region. From north to south you can see anthropological differences that have been instrumental in the history of this country and its cultural growth. Thai society traditionally binds to agriculture, this is because it is possible to create a cohesive society which itself provides all the processing steps from planting to harvest. The Thai population lives in the plains and hilly regions, while the mountainous regions of the country are populated by ethnic groups from other countries. Over the centuries, Thailand has been able to "mix" a significant amount of ethnic heterogeneity creating finally sprung part due to the mild and mostly peaceful coexistence of peoples rooms.
Among the various ethnic groups are the Padaung mountain, they are a small group of Karen who lives in the remote mountain region of the state Kayan, whose name in Burmese language means "long neck". This population has gained notoriety thanks to the so-called "Giraffe women". During the ceremony of the full moon, the children of only five years receive the application circles brass neck, legs and arms. From year to year are added more circles, these slowly cause a malformation of the chest that tends to squeeze and consequently causing the elongation of the neck. In some cases, the elimination of the collar can cause premature death caused by suffocation or broken vertebrae.
The Thai people have always had a close relationship with the water, it has managed to profit from this valuable asset not only for use in agriculture as well as a key element in the trade, is the famous floating market Damnersaduak a hundred and nine kilometers from Bangkok, with its water channels, paths to allow small boats to transport all kinds of good, from agricultural products to those crafts. Transportation is not the only activity in the market Damnersaduak, you can meet lots of boats where we serve "street food" more varied by fruit plates to dishes typically Thai. Among the various agricultural products you can be found on durian and the mangosteen fruit two very famous. The first known for his very unpleasant odor, so that by law it is forbidden to transport the places and public transport, it is identified with the saying "hell smell taste paradise." The mangosteen is a fruit instead highly sought after for its taste sweet and sour, it was also used as a fruit to test for cancer. If the capital Bangkok is famous for its road traffic the floating markets throughout Thailand can be compared to the traffic generated by hundreds of small boats, some used as taxis for transportation of tourists as other stalls. Buddhism is the main religion practiced mainly in northern Thilandia (about 80% of the population), is currently the fourth world religious community after Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism. Buddhist monks live wearing a tunic yellow-orange, and may not engage in paid work, the only gain they can get thanks to alms donated by the faithful. Constantly on the road they are nomads who have the task of spreading the Law of the Buddha and have no fixed abode, if not during the rainy season, which runs from July to October, a time when they retire in the monasteries.
Among the traditions thai is the art of tattooing also called Yantra or Sak Yant, it in fact is closely related to important symbolic connotations very often linked to spirituality and magic.
As the North also boasts the south between these different ethnic groups are the Chao Ley also called sea gypsies, they speak their own language the Moken nomads traditionally live a simple life and almost always on their boats. They are the skilled sailors who for centuries have lived by fishing and hunting, with the arrival of large companies that have monopolized the fish market the chao ley had to adapt abandoning some of their traditions, such as fishing and hunting. With the development of mass tourism, this people which has just over 2,000 people, has become one of the most experienced guides navigation accompanying tourists who want to explore deep waters for sports activities such as snorkeling.
In addition, the south stands out from the north for its high percentage of Muslims around five percent of the entire country, with mosques that stand on the seas and join the seascape creating something charming and unique.
Only by going from north to south this wonderful country you will discover three really different but strongly related to each other by a close connection. To experience the "real" Thailand is not enough to visit the coastal areas or the breathtaking scenery, what makes this place unique in the world are the people, the real protagonists of a nation that smile has made him a reason to live.
